This gorgeous garden transformation and patio renovation was lovingly designed and created by Bethany and Dominic in Berkshire. It just goes to show you never know what’s behind overgrown foliage, it may be the focal point for your next project! We caught up with Bethany to find out more.
When we bought our property, the garden was extremely overgrown. We wanted to make it into a sanctuary that we could enjoy during the summer and decided to take on our patio renovation project ourselves when lockdown restrictions were still in place at the beginning of 2021.
After clearing the garden, we discovered a beautiful wall which we wanted to create a seating area around. The old concrete base was not large enough for what we wanted, so we increased the size of this and included a pergola to really show off the area.
Finding Tiles for our Patio Renovation
When choosing tiles to use, we ordered a lot of samples from many sites – an invaluable service when travel to stores was prohibited and many stores were closed! We wanted something light and bright but that was not one solid colour so that any dirt would not show up too clearly. We also wanted thinner tiles to make them easier to cut, as we had already laid a solid concrete base for support. We decided on Magma Grey Tiles from Direct Tile Warehouse as they matched all of our requirements at a really good price!
We laid the tiles using Standard Setaflex Tile Adhesive in grey with 5mm cross spacers and grouted using Grout 3000 Light Grey Grout, all purchased from Direct Tile Warehouse in the same order. The Direct Tile Warehouse team were very helpful, answering all of our questions on recommended adhesives for the job. All items worked well and were as described.
We are delighted with the finished result and have already enjoyed a few evenings outside on our new terrace. Thank you Direct Tile Warehouse!
